The 100 Volt Line VIGIL2 Class D amplifiers are fully compliant with BS5839 Part 8, EN60849 and EMC regulations. They are greater than 80% efficient (compared to typical ‘A/B Class’ amplifiers of around 60%). They draw less current and, therefore, do not generate unwanted heat, whic means smaller standby batteries are required on a Watt to Watt basis.

VIGIL2 amplifiers are physically compatible with VIGIL A/B amplifiers and each has two 500mV balanced inputs with selectable priority. They have a sleep mode, reducing the standby requirements to typically 50mA per amplifier when operating on batteries. All VIGIL2 amplifiers can achieve rated output power from a 22V battery supply.

The Power supply utilises Switch Mode Power techniques to improve efficiency and, like the amplifiers, it is completely compatible with previous VIGIL power supplies.

BV440M ~ Amplifier

The VIGIL2 BV440M is physically compatible with the phased out A/B range, with an increased power output 440Watt.

CLASS D is 80% efficient. Switching output stages reduces unwanted heat dissipation and power input, therefore smaller batteries will be required for standby. Rated output power is attainable using a 22V battery supply.

The amplifier has a sleep mode, automatically reducing the standby requirements to 70mA per amplifier when operating on batteries.

440Watt versions can be paralleled to produce higher single output powers.

BV440M Amplifier module may be mounted in one BVMF equipment frame with one switch mode power supply / charger module.

The BV440M Module is equipped with two 500mV balanced line inputs incorporating a priority switching system. The priority is selected using a 4-way DIL switch.

BVMF complete with BVSMP and one BV440. 2U in height. 19" rack
mountable.

The output stage is protected against overload conditions (i.e. short circuits, etc) by means of sensing the current and voltage and presenting this DC signal to a Voltage Controlled Attenuator (VCA). Should the amplifier be subjected to an abnormal load the input to the power amplifier is attenuated to a safe level using the VCA. The amplifier’s output voltage is also sensed and, should it exceed 100V, the VCA will be activated and again will reduce the input signal, ensuring safe operation without creating unnecessary distortion.

Over temperature protection is provided using a sensor attached to the output stage heatsink. Should the temperature exceed 90ºC the VCA attenuates the input signal to a safe level and illuminates a warning LED. If the system is under surveillance it will cause the surveillance detector to indicate a fault condition due to the gain reduction. The inputs to the amplifier are presented on two separate four-way plug-in terminal connectors; each connector provides a balanced audio input, ground and access DC control input. The output is presented on a three-way plug/screw termination connector providing 50V or 100V output. The 24V DC input, together with the necessary interface connections enabling several amplifiers to be paralleled, are presented on a 6-way crimp connected plug and socket.

The front panel LED indicators include an output level status indicator consisting of two LEDs indicating 10% and 100% maximum output level. A ‘supply healthy’ indicator is also provided together with ‘overload’, ‘over temperature’ and ‘active’ indicators.

BVSMP ~ Switch Mode Power Supply
Download BVSMP Manual

BVSMP ~ Switch Mode Power Supply

BVSMP is physically compatible with our phased out A/B range. Switch mode techniques improve efficiency, reducing unwanted heat dissipation and weight.

Each unit provides two independent power converters with current and over voltage protection circuits, improved monitoring of charger and all DC outputs to ensure reliability.

The power supply provides two individually protected outputs at 24V to feed either two BV220, two BV120D or one BV440M power output modules. In the event of mains failure power is maintained using an external standby battery which is continuously float charged by the charger section of the PSU unit.

The unit has built-in deep battery discharge cut off; this prevents total discharge that can destroy the standby batteries in the event of AC power failure for any long periods.

A third protected output is provided to power a mixer or auxiliary circuits. All these outputs, together with a fault volt free changeover contact, are provided by a nine-way crimp connector plug and socket.

The charger section is totally monitored and indicators for AC supply healthy, fuse failure, charger fail, battery voltage high, and battery voltage low are incorporated. Should any of the above fault conditions occur, an internal relay releases providing a changeover contact, signalling to the control system. The charger incorporated is of the constant voltage type set for the recommended float charge.

Should the battery be below this float charge it will charge in a constant current mode at the rate of three amps and progressively reduces once the battery has achieved its nominal float level. Several chargers may be paralleled when used for larger systems and must be synchronised.

BVMF ~ Main Frame

Up to three BV220 or BV120D amplifier modules may be mounted in one 2U equipment frame. Alternatively you can mount two amplifier modules and one BVSM power supply/charger module.

A BV440 comprises 1 x BVSMP, BV440M and a BVMF.
