Baldwin Boxall Voice Alarm System Batteries
A voice alarm system must have fully functional battery backup at all times.
A VIGIL voice alarm system is fitted with top quality batteries that are designed to provide system backup for up to five years. In the event of a mains power failure, as standard, the batteries will support the system for at least 24 hours in standby mode and then for 30 minutes at full operational mode. On occasion, the specification has a requirement for longer battery support of a voice alarm which is not a problem for a VIGIL system. Whatever the specification dictates, the battery calculations are made by our project managers and are included in the design process of a system.
About the batteries in a VIGIL voice alarm system:
Baldwin Boxall power supply equipment (BVSMP/LT) has been tested and certified to EN54-4. This certification covers the entire power supply system including the supplied batteries. Baldwin Boxall has carefully selected battery types to ensure that their characteristics are suitable for a Voice Alarm application.
When designing voice alarm power supply sub-systems Baldwin Boxall applies a correction factor in order to mitigate the expected battery capacity degradation of the supplied batteries over a five year period. Other batteries may have differing degradation characteristics and so may be unable to supply the required amount of power over the required amount of time at the end of their service life.
Important Notice – Replacement Batteries:
The batteries in a VIGIL Voice Alarm system should be replaced at least every five years and MUST be Baldwin Boxall approved batteries. Failure to use approved batteries may invalidate the EN54-16 certification of this system. Other batteries have not been tested to ensure the requirements of EN54-4 are met when used in a Baldwin Boxall voice alarm system.
