IKEA, Wembley

Description

IKEA Wembley is one of the company’s stores nationwide providing homewares and flat-pack furniture. IKEA is a “values-driven company with a passion for life at home”. The Wembley store is home to a VIGIL EVAS voice alarm system.

The Voice Alarm System:

  • 14 zone emergency voice alarm system (EVAS).
  • 16 zone EVAS microphone control panel.
  • 3 x 16 zone paging microphones.
  • Fire alarm panel interface.
  • Two hand-held paging microphones.
  • Satellite audio output.
  • ACDR CD player.

About the project:

The voice alarm system has been installed in the company’s flagship store in Wembley by Logic Fire Systems Ltd. It is controlled by an emergency voice alarm system (EVAS) microphone control panel. Added to the system are paging microphones, a fire alarm system and two local hand-held microphones.

The system is controlled by a BVRD2M DSP controlled routeing matrix, and also a BVRD2S DSP controlled slave router unit. The system is accessed by a combination of microphones, each with descending priority; ‘all-call’ emergency fireman’s microphone, EVAS 16-zone paging microphones and two local hand-held microphones. Also included is a satellite audio output and one ACDR CD player. The fourteen zone system, including the VIGIL2 D-class amplifiers (totalling 7,780 Watts) is housed in three 38U racks.

Visitors to the store will be able to hear clear general public announcements, listen to background music and be made aware of the latest special offers.

Commenting on the project, Andy McPartland, Director, Logic Fire Systems, said “We were delighted to win the contract for this landmark store. From the outset it was clear that the EVAS system could easily fulfil the complex specification. Being customers of Baldwin Boxall for some five years now, we have a good working knowledge of the product. The VIGIL system has proven to be easy to install and commission and this project was no exception.”
