BVR16M inserts

The BVR Microphone range is designed specifically for the Voice Alarm market to interface with the VIGIL2 range of amplifiers. The units connect to the BVR20 (Microdrive) controller and the VIGIL2 amplifiers. The data path is monitored using parity checking and hand shaking techniques. We ned to be instructed as to which is the master microphone when more than one is supplied.

Microphone Control Panel Features:

Selector Switches:

16, 32, 48, or 64 zone selects

Six Message and Cancel

One Live Microphone

One Music Select

One Emergency Message and Fire Microphone ‘Enable’ Keyswitch

One System Fault Accept / Lamp Test

Each message has indications for ‘fault’ and ‘message’ in use i.e. active.

Emergency All Call Option:

One of the requirements of BS5839 part 8 is for an ‘Emergency Call All Microphone’ that bypasses the data link and signal processing devices. This is a ‘factory fit’ option only and is not fitted as standard since there may be more than one BVR Microphone installed.

Microphone Indication:

Four LED Bar to indicate speech level

Speak Now

Microphone Speech path fault

Zone Status Indications:

Seven-segment display indicates true status of zone i.e. the message being broadcast, microphone emergency or normal paging and fault conditions.

BVRAMB ~ Ambient Noise Sensor

BVRAMB ~ Ambient Noise Sensor
Download BVRAMB Manual

The BVRAMB is an ambient noise-sensing device, which works in conjunction with the BVR20 ‘Microdrive’ to automatically adjust the power of the Voice Alarm amplifiers depending on the ambient noise. The system is ideal for any location where audibility could be a problem due to variable noise level, such as leisure centres, railway stations, busy restaurants or factories etc. When the area is at its quietest the volume of the announcements or music will reduce. When the areas are at their busiest and noisiest, the amplifiers increase in power to ensure that all announcements etc will be audible above the background noise.

The BVRAMB Ambient Noise Sensing Microphone is combined with a BVRCI (interface module) which connects to our BVR20 ‘Microdrive’ via a BVRIO40 (input/output module). The BVRAMB uses a dynamic microphone capsule, the output of which is amplified then converted to produce a variable current output. This output is used by the BVRCI to produce a voltage that is proportional to the level of ambient noise. The amplifier, which is used to convert the signal, has band pass filtering that ensures the system only responds to noise that affects the level of ambient noise.

BEL1 ~ End of Line

BEL1 ~ End of Line

The BEL1 End of Line monitoring device is an active unit, which connects to every speaker circuit within a Voice Alarm system. It is permissible to have up to four BEL1s on one speaker run. When doing this please ensure that internal DIL switches are set correctly.

The main function of this unit is to monitor the critical signal path of speaker lines for open, short circuit and earth faults. Any faults will be detected and fault warnings will be shown within the main Voice Alarm rack routeing mixers.

Please be aware during the design stage of a VA system that each unit uses approximately three Watts of power from the amplifier. The BEL1 is supplied in a standard metal clad box and is designed for mounting within a building and must not be mounted externally, a flush mounting version is available.

BEL2 ~ Active Speaker Isolation Unit

The BEL2 is an active, speaker isolation unit, which isolates up to 15 Watts of load within one spurred cable run in case of short or open circuit. This device triggers faults in the same way as our BEL1.

Please be aware during the design stage of a VA system that each unit uses approximately one Watt of power from the amplifier. The BEL2 is supplied in a standard metal clad box and is designed for mounting within a building and must not be mounted externally.

BEL3 ~ Active Speaker Reassurance Device

The BEL3 is an active reassurance device designed to indicate the correct operation of each individual loudspeaker in a medium to large voice alarm (VA) system.

The unit locates within each loudspeaker and shows full operation via an LED indicator. This system is designed to cut VA system maintenance times, as the engineer simply walks around the site, checking that the LED is illuminated. If a fault exists, the LED will not illuminate and a fault indicator will sound at the main equipment rack.

This system therefore removes the need to inject audible signals through the VA system for testing purposes. Making it ideal for any public building where testing is usually a problem, such as 24-hour supermarkets, areas with high background/ambient noise and areas where noise generation will be a hindrance.

The physical size (L70 x W30 D40mm) of the BEL3 enables it to be mounted in almost any loudspeaker, whether it be ceiling, horn or cabinet type. The product already has support from the main speaker manufacturers, including Bose, DNH, Next Two and Penton who have fitted BEL3 units into their equipment.

BEL4 ~ Active Speaker Isolation Unit

The BEL4 allows simple monitoring of individual speakers and enables a low impedance speaker to be fitted to 100V line Voice Alarm systems.

The BEL4 can be either supplied as a single PCB (product code - BEL4) or with the PCB housed within a metal clad box (product code – BEL4B).

The unit is dust and water resistant (BEL4B), and contains a BEL3 reassurance device. The 100 Volt line connections to the unit are by ceramic terminal block. If fire rated cable is used, the unit is BS5839 Part 8 compliant. The BEL4 also contains a 100 Volt transformer meaning the speaker will not require transformers – a vital cost saving when installing speakers.

The units will work in conjunction with a variety of 4 or 8 Ohm speakers with transformer tappings at 6, 3, 1.5 and 0.75 Watt. An LED is housed within the unit and this acts in the same way as the BEL3 LED. Wiring will also be a quick and easy process. Just connect the loudspeaker lines to the unit then fit the speakers using the ceramic terminal block.
