The BDM400 Serial Networking Microphone Range
The stylish black and silver BDM400 range of microphones employ one RJ45 eight-way CAT5 lead, enabling simple networking. The range has serial RS485 zone select and an analogue output signal. LEDs on the microphone indicate zone busy, power, fault and data. Additionally, the BDM401 has the option to operate as a standard parallel microphone.
Using CAT5 cable, up to eight BDM400 series microphones can be linked together (via wall sockets) and connected to a single input at the rack.
The monitored versions also feature a fault buzzer providing an audible, as well as visual, signal to alert the operator to a system fault.
BDM401(M)
The BDM401(M) is a single-zone free-standing paging microphone with a cardioid microphone. The tactile membrane switches, which are a feature of the BDM range, make operation easy and keep the top surface smooth and a pleasure to use. Adjacent to each switch is a space for identification details. This is achieved by inserting a legend strip underneath the membrane.
The BDM401(M) can also be operated as a parallel microphone. This option is selected internally by jumpers. Factory setting is for serial operation.
Audio Output: Line level, via the pre-amplifier.
Limiter: When selected, ensures the output level remains constant, even when different people operate, or talk too close to the microphone.
Speak Now Light: When selected, provides an adjustable delay of 0-7 seconds to indicate when a pre-announcement chime has finished.
Busy Light: Indicates when the system is in use.
Speak Level Indicator: Row of LEDs to indicate volume of speech.
Data Light: Indicates successful connection to PA/VA system.
Fault Light: An LED will indicate a detected fault.
Fault Accept: A button is provided to accept fault condition.
Optional Switches: Up to three extra flip top switches can be added.
Fault Alarm: BDM401M version will provide an audible alarm when a fault is detected.
Termination: Eight-way RJ45/CAT5 lead, for simple networking.
Dimensions: 148mm (W) x 48mm (H) x 177mm (D).
BDM404(M) and BDM408(M)
The BDM404(M) and BDM408(M) are four or eight-zone microphones with all-call paging. They have all the features of the BDM401(M) in addition to the following:
All Call Switch: Enables operator to select and call all zones.
Busy/Select Light: Indicates when the system is in use or the operator has
selected a zone.
Zonal Fault Lights: LED fault indicator for each zone.
Zone Cancel Function: The zone select cancel function offers two options.
1: All zone selections cancelled when speak button is released.
2: The zones selected remain selected after the call has been made. This is useful when repeat calls to the same zones are regularly used.
Termination: Eight-way RJ45/CAT5 lead, for simple networking.
Dimensions: 148mm (W) x 48mm (H) x 177mm (D).
BDM416(M)
The BDM416(M) is a sixteen-zone microphone with all-call paging and has the same features as the BDM404/408. However, the BDM416(M) has provision for up to seven optional flip top switches for special functions.
Dimensions: 275mm (W) x 48mm (H) x 177mm (D).
BDM424(M)
The BDM424(M) is a 24-zone microphone with all-call paging and has the same features as the BDM416(M). However, the BDM424(M) has provision for up to nine optional flip top switches for special functions.
Dimensions: 398mm (W) x 48mm (H) x 177mm (D).
BDM432(M)
The BDM432(M) is a 32-zone microphone with all-call paging and has the same features as the BDM424(M). However, the BDM432(M) has provision for up to twelve optional flip top switches for special functions.
Dimensions: 523mm (W) x 48mm (H) x 177mm (D).
