QA / R&D Technician

We are looking for a full time R&D Technician. The successful candidate will work in our busy R&D Department assisting the Quality Manager with the day to day management of our QA system and also to assist the R&D Department with electronics/firmware design activities.

We are looking for a motivated person with an understanding of ISO9001 and with a keen interest in electronics.

The hours are 37.5 per week (Monday-Friday). Salary is up to £24,000 depending upon experience.

Tasks:

  • Assisting with QA Audits
  • Progressing product engineering change requests – ensuring all actions are completed.
  • Progressing internal problem reports to resolution.
  • Build prototypes for new products.
  • Product testing of new product and updated products.
  • Test procedure creation for new products and maintenance of existing test procedures.
  • Training of test engineers on new product test procedures.
  • Component obsolescence management – specify and test alternatives for obsolescent components.

Skills Required:

  • ISO9001 QA Systems
  • Soldering
  • Electronics
  • Microsoft Office

Bonus Skills:

  • Programming skills.
  • Familiarity with the fire alarm industry.

Packing & Despatch Operative

We are looking for a full time packing and despatch operative to pack and ship customers’ orders.

Tasks Include:

  • Pack finished products.
  • Complete all documentation for each shipment ensuring that records are kept regarding content of container/carton/pallet.
  • Maintain serial number record.
  • Assist Production Co-ordinator in product movement around factory.
  • Print delivery notes.
  • When required, assist in loading and unloading goods in and out.
  • Cover the Goods In department during absence/holidays.
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Despatch Team Leader.

Skills Required:

  • Health and safety awareness.
  • ESD awareness.
  • Accuracy, consistency and attention to detail.
  • Product knowledge.
  • Use of scales
  • Fork lift driving (training given).
  • Use and care of hand tools.
  • Understanding of our computer system.
  • Understanding of our carriers and their rates.
  • Understand the basics of LEAN manufacturing and the 5S principle.

Bonus Skills:

  • Goods in procedures.
  • Use and care of measuring tools.

Systems Assembler

We are looking for a Systems Assembler to work in our Specials Department. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Systems Team Leader, building rack systems from technical drawings and other tasks as directed.

Tasks:

  • To assist in all aspects of systems production.
  • Mechanical assembly.
  • Rack wiring and cable forms.
  • Special products build and wire.
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Systems Team Leader.

Skills required:

  • Health and safety awareness.
  • ESD awareness.
  • Accuracy, consistency and attention to detail.
  • Use & care of hand and power tools.
  • Mechanical assembly and fasteners.
  • Cable stripping and crimping techniques.
  • Cable forming techniques.
  • Soldering; cables, components printed circuit board assembly.
  • Product knowledge.
  • Understanding of circuit and wiring diagrams.
  • Panel and rack wiring.
  • Understand the basics of LEAN manufacturing and the 5S principle.

Bonus skills:

  • Working knowledge of colour codes and component identification.
  • Ability to build prototype and ‘one off’ units from drawings and circuit diagrams.
